Edgr’s algorithms analyze regulatory filings of institutional money managers to identify their stock investments for further research. Discover a wide range of publicly disclosed stock ideas from experienced fund managers with successful track records.
- Where does our financial data come from?
Investment firms managing over $100 million in investments must report their securities holdings each quarter. These reports, known as Form 13F filings, become public 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter.
Form 13F Reports detail holdings owned and reported by large investment funds. By comparing current holdings with previous quarters, you can track which stocks they are buying and selling.
- Robust data analytics
Edgr’s data analytics sift through reported holdings by fund managers, categorizing them based on factors like fund performance history, typical stock holding periods, acquisition patterns, purchase sizes, and other relevant indicators of fund conviction and performance. These data analytics are refined using machine learning algorithms to generate a list of securities that is updated quarterly.
Historically, the index produced by Edgr's data analytics has surpassed the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY). Please note that while past performance can inform future outcomes, Edgr solely provides data analytics on fund managers' stock activities.
- Are Form 13F filings beneficial despite a 45-day delay?
The back-tested models show that they are. The Edgr Index primarily relies on funds with extended stock holding periods and distinguishes between long-term and short-term stock conviction.
Subscribers receive back-tested returns for each fund across various timeframes. Despite not all funds exhibiting strong performance solely from their Form 13F filings, many consistently outperform market benchmarks.
By testing the performance of different funds concerning when they disclosed their holdings, Edgr enables subscribers to track performance over distinct time horizons. Want to know how Warren Buffett’s top 3 stocks by market value fared over time? Edgr has the data.
